DJ Janus (Harry Antoniades) was born in Johannesburg South Africa, and has always had a passion for music. His musical world changed when he discovered the magical emotions from spinning on turntables. He has been mixing records for many years, and was influenced heavily in the 90s by electronic music, and by many variants of ambient sound.
Fascinated by club music, he moved to the UK and took up a job in Turnmills in 1999 (or better known as the gallery), one of the major trance clubs in the London underground scene. Thats where he found inspiration for blending trance music.
He continued to find his own sound, and in 2002 he decided to bring his musical message back to Cyprus. Participating at many organized events and clubs around the island, his music and mixes became widely embraced. Promoted by you-name-it events, it became apparent through his efforts that there was much more to come through the following years, and was offered many residencies around the Island.
His breakthrough came in 2005 at The cave farewell beach party @governors beach where he played at sunrise, which was one of the most memorable events, and earned instant respect. Later on he teamed up with Pleasure Sounds, and appeared with guest performances at many of the Pleasure Sound Events.
Appearances on many radio shows, (Danceradio, Choicefm, Inthemixsessions, Frisky Radio) to name a few, has lead to the popularity of his monthly mix Life is Music, and Music for the Universe grow steadily. In 2006 Janus made his first appearance at the famous Guaba Beach and gained the respect of Djs and clubbers.
In 2007 and 2008 Janus appeared frequently on radio stations and at many of the top venues in Cyprus, and has performed with many international djs including the likes of Above and Beyond, Andy Moor, Markus Shulz, Nick Warren, Gareth Emery, Roger Shah and many more.
One of the biggest highlights of 2009 was playing at the Guaba Party at the world famous Ministry of Sound. You can now listen to Dj Janus Music for the Universe every Friday night on www.blueraccoon.fm. As well as being a Dj, Janus is also a producer and has been working hard on many remixes and tracks for many years. A special album is being compiled and put together that will be available soon.
DJ Janus remains modest and still continues to use only vinyl for playing music. When selecting tracks, he is always searching for the softer and warm elements of progressive and trance. Because of all the endless possibilities in music, combining the dj and production element has always remained a necessity. big thanks to my good friend Kireesh who was there from the beginning and started me out in this adventure.
